Transition into work - Hana’s story

When Hana joined the Restart Scheme, she had recently moved to the UK and had limited knowledge of the labour market or how to apply for jobs. After receiving her right-to-work documents, she began applying for roles but needed additional support to navigate the process effectively. Hana tells us in her own words about her journey.

“My experience with the Restart Scheme has been extremely positive and truly beneficial. I was referred by Jobcentre Plus and assigned my Employment Adviser, Malaaha, who has been exceptionally supportive throughout my journey.

“As someone who is new to the UK and had only recently received my right‑to‑work documents, I initially lacked confidence and wasn’t sure how to search for suitable employment. However, with Malaaha’s guidance, I was able to build both the skills and the confidence I needed.”

Our in‑house courses help participants build key employability skills, from CV writing to interview preparation. Through practical, supportive training, they gain the confidence and knowledge needed to become job‑ready and succeed in the workplace.

Hana took advantage of the in-house courses available and focused on interview techniques and digital skills in preparation for finding work. “Malaaha helped me understand appropriate interview dress codes and boosted my confidence by conducting mock interviews. I also received vouchers to purchase suitable clothing for my interviews,” said Hana.

We provide financial support to make the transition into work as smooth as possible, including help with essentials such as travel, work clothing, and training costs, ensuring participants can move off benefits and start their new roles with confidence and without financial barriers.

“Every time I attended, Malaaha encouraged me to go the extra mile and helped me stay motivated. Thanks to her support, I have made significant progress and have been offered a cleaning job with Mitie.

“Without the Restart Scheme, I would not have known where to begin with my job search and securing employment would have taken much longer. This programme has been instrumental in helping me integrate into the UK job market and take meaningful steps forward in my career.”

We wish Hana all the best in her new and for the future!
