Starting over - Tony’s story

After more than two decades in the same job, Tony found himself starting from scratch in an unfamiliar job market. Having never written a CV or attended an interview before, he joined the Restart Scheme feeling unsure where to begin but determined to get back into work.

Working closely with his Employment Adviser, Susanna, Tony received tailored support to build his confidence and develop the skills needed to secure employment. From creating a CV and understanding employer expectations to interview preparation, he was supported through every stage of his job search journey.

Reflecting on his experience, Tony said: “I initially felt lost, like a broken man who didn’t know what to do next.” However, through tailored support, encouragement and expert guidance, he rebuilt his confidence, regained belief in himself and took positive steps towards employment.
