Self-determination – Shuntaz’s story

Shuntaz joined the Restart Scheme - delivered by our supply chain Triage, with a goal to launch her own fabric business, selling fabrics and fabric bundles for dress makers specialising in Asian designs. With a background in self-employment from a previous family business, Shuntaz was aware of the hard work and determination required.

During her initial appointment, Shuntaz met her designated Employment Advisor, Amy, who was able to arrange specialist self-employment support, creating a business plan, studying marketing strategies, and managing accounts.

Restart Scheme can support participants with developing skills or achieving the necessary qualifications needed to develop and progress with their new business. Our team are there, every step of the way, to ensure participants have the right tools and knowledge to sustain a successful career in self-employment.

Shuntaz explained to Amy, that she had limited knowledge on digital marketing and social media, and so Amy was able to arrange and fund a digital marketing bootcamp course for her. Amy shared:

“Since Shuntaz began her course in digital marketing, I have seen such a positive improvement, not only to her skills but her overall confidence too. I am confident that she has set a solid foundation for the new business venture with her proactive and enthusiastic approach.

“Her enthusiasm and commitment to her business have been truly inspiring. She has taken every piece of advice on board and gone above and beyond in her efforts. I am looking forward to seeing her progress over the coming months.”

Our support doesn’t stop once the participant begins employment. We offer continued in-work support at a frequency that suits participants and their needs.

“I feel optimistic about the month ahead. I have enjoyed the journey so far and have learnt a lot of useful business skills. Restart has helped me to keep on track with all my goals and further development.” Said Shuntaz.

Shuntaz will continue to receive support from her self-employment Advisor at the Restart Scheme, whilst building her business and ensuring she has all the resources needed to succeed.
