Retail sector - Marieta’s story
Marieta joined the Restart Scheme following a redundancy in her career in retail. Having worked in this job for six years, Marieta felt that she had little confidence when looking and applying for new jobs.
During her initial appointment with Employment Adviser Prithvi, Marieta discussed her concerns around interviews and that she needed some specific support towards her applications and the interviewing process. Prithvi told us: “I assisted Marieta with enrolling onto several of our in-house training courses, that focused on CVs, interview skills and mock interview practice. This motivated her to recognise and focus on her strengths and transferrable skills and significantly boosted her confidence for job interviews.”
Our Employment Advisers are a consistent point of contact for participants, providing one to one tailored employability coaching, regular reviews to ensure progress, and coordination of all available support.
Marieta was focused on continuing her career in retail, and once she had completed her new CV with the help of Prithvi, she began applying for roles online to various retailers in her area.
“I joined the Restart Scheme for support in finding sustainable part-time employment. After losing my job due to redundancy, I faced challenges in securing a new job. However, the Restart Scheme has played a crucial role in rebuilding my confidence and equipping me with employability skills through training courses and one on one sessions with my Employment Adviser. I’m very grateful to Michelle, the Skills Trainer, for her support,” said Marieta.
“My Employment Adviser, Prithvi, was exceptionally understanding and addressed all my queries, providing thorough reassurance. Additionally, their Recruitment Manager, Ashley, played a pivotal part in helping me secure a new job that perfectly aligns with my requirements.
“Since finding my ideal job through the Restart Scheme, my confidence and self-esteem have significantly improved, putting me back on track!”
The support from Restart Scheme doesn’t stop when the participant enters employment - they can continue to receive in-work support for up to six months.
Prithvi shared how proud he was of how Marieta had built on her confidence since joining, he said: “I caught up with Marieta recently during an in-work support meeting at her new workplace. She told me how she is enjoying her new job, and additionally, she has taken on the temporary role of Store Supervisor in the absence of the Manager. Marieta is delighted with the support she’s received from myself and the team and feels confident about resuming with her career in retail.”
