Serving up a new role - Daniel's story

After being made redundant during the COVID-19 pandemic, Daniel joined the Restart Scheme for support to him get back into employment.

Daniel highlighted that his learning difficulties and ADHD were a barrier to work for him and that he needed our guidance with job applications and interview questions and answers.

We enrolled Daniel onto several of our in-house courses that we knew would help him to become more ‘job ready’. Daniel enjoyed an employability course which helped him with CV writing and mock interview questions and preparation. Following this course, we assisted Daniel with an application and interview preparation for a role with the NHS.

Daniel has now started working for the NHS as a Catering Operative. He is pleased to be back in the workplace and earning money. He has the independence to live his own life and support himself and his nan at home.

Daniel enjoys his new job, he explained:

“Everyone at the Restart Scheme office in York was very nice to me and very helpful. I’ve been unemployed since August 2020 due to COVID-19 and had lots of interviews, but no one gave me the opportunity. I did lots of lots of courses and now I’ve got a job.”
