Motivation to work – Sabrina’s story

When Sabrina joined the Restart Scheme, she was determined to find full-time work to fulfil her goal of finding a new home. At the time Sabrina was residing with a relative, and she wanted a permanent place to call home.

Sabrina found that she wasn’t getting many responses from employers when applying for jobs and told us how she needed that extra support with her CV and approach to finding work.

Employment Adviser, Sadie was introduced to Sabrina and instantly they built a working relationship, assessing her previous work experience, skills, and future work goals. Sabrina had a lot of cleaning experience and wanted to continue a career in this job sector but felt that her CV needed reworking before looking for suitable roles.

Sabrina was highly motivated to find a sustainable full-time job that would help her save enough money to find her own place to live. Sadie was on hand to support Sabrina with the completion of several Restart Scheme in-house courses, which have been developed to help equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to find work. For Sabrina, this included our ‘Reboot your CV’ course, which helped her to create a brand-new gold standard CV and gave her the tools to tailor this to future job roles.

Sabrina landed a job interview with holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts, for which the Restart Scheme was able to financially support her to buy new interview clothes and fund travel costs.

It was only a matter of days before Sabrina was offered the job. Her interview preparation and mock practise sessions with Sadie paid off!
