Motivation is key - Maria’s story

When Maria joined the Restart Scheme, she was fully committed to securing a position as a Teaching Assistant. Although she had been out of work for a year through no fault of her own, she brought with her valuable experience from the education sector as well as a strong background as an interpreter.
During her initial appointment, Maria met with Employment Adviser Nazare, who enrolled her with a local teaching agency. In the meantime, they worked together to update her CV, explore other roles and opportunities, and make use of the in-house courses available for participants on the Restart Scheme.
Our Restart Scheme offers a range of courses designed to strengthen employability skills and boost confidence. Participants can access practical workshops covering areas such as CV building, interview preparation, digital skills, and workplace readiness. These sessions provide tailored support to help individuals develop the tools they need to progress into sustainable employment and succeed in their chosen career path.
Nazare shared: “We invited Maria to an employer day at our office, where she met with Engage Education, who were recruiting. Maria spoke with the manager and was invited to interview. Maria was over the moon and since starting her new role, Engage Education has given amazing feedback about her work. They are thrilled to have her on the team.
Gemma from Engage Education said: “Maria is very reliable, is always prepared to step in at short notice, always on time and uses her own initiative in the classroom.”
We wish Maria all the best in her new role and for the future.
