Driven to succeed - Shay's story

Shay joined the Restart Scheme, delivered by our partners at Northern Rights for support with finding a job in production or construction. His Employment Adviser, Derek offered hands-on support that empowered Shay to move forward with confidence and apply for a wide range of jobs.

Working closely together, they developed a polished CV that showcased Shay's skills and potential, while a Better Off Calculation clearly demonstrated the financial rewards of returning to employment.

Our in-house courses help participants build key employability skills, from CV writing to interview preparation. Through practical, supportive training, they gain the confidence and knowledge needed to become job-ready and succeed in the workplace.

With his updated CV and a growing sense of confidence, Shay began applying for a range of roles that matched his interests and career goals, including warehouse and production work. Shay and Derek identified a production role that aligned perfectly with Shay's practical skills, strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Derek supported Shay every step of the way. From refining his job search strategy to completing various applications, they approached the process as a team. Derek ensured Shay felt confident in presenting his experience and abilities, reminding him of the value he would bring to an employer.

Shay was soon offered a work trial with a motoring manufacturer with the possibility of a permanent position. Shay successfully passed all required tests and assessments, and shortly afterwards he received a job offer.

"It was a proud and emotional moment as a result of consistent support and belief in someone's potential", said Derek. "This achievement marks not just the start of a new job, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Shay."
