Double success - Gemma's story

Since joining the Restart Scheme after being made redundant from her previous role, Gemma was determined to regain her financial independence and get back into work. Working closely with her Employment Adviser, Josh, she took positive steps towards achieving her career goals by building her confidence, strengthening her employability skills, and developing a proactive approach to her job search.
Working closely with Josh, Gemma received tailored support with her CV, job applications, and job search, helping her develop the skills and confidence needed to secure employment in the care sector. As part of this support, she developed her interview techniques through dedicated coaching and learned how to effectively showcase her strengths and experience to employers.
The Restart Scheme focuses on helping people build sustainable careers, not just find their next job. Through tailored support, skills development, and confidence-building, participants gain the tools they need to secure long-term employment, progress in their careers, and achieve lasting financial independence.
Josh was on hand to help Gemma feel fully prepared for interviews through practical support, and assistance with interview clothing, travel costs, and personalised coaching, ensuring she could attend opportunities with confidence. Alongside Josh's ongoing support, collaboration with Recruitment Manager Kayleigh helped identify suitable vacancies that matched Gemma's skills, aspirations, and passion for care.
Josh told us: “Gemma’s commitment paid off, with new skills and growing confidence, she impressed employers at recent interviews for the care sector, which resulted in two job offers!
“Gemma's success highlights the positive impact of tailored support, skills development, and personal determination. She is now looking forward to starting her new career in care and making a difference in the lives of others.”
We wish Gemma all the best in her career and for the future.
