Delivering success – Robert’s story

Hear in his own words how Robert began his journey into employment with the Restart Scheme.

“Earlier this year I joined the Restart Scheme as I was unemployed and needed support in getting back into work. I met with Employment Adviser, Jamie, who explained everything what the Restart Scheme could offer, and what they could support me with. Jamie suggested the self-confidence course for me to begin my employment journey. I then made the most of the support by completing more courses with Restart, Interview Skills, Effective Job Search group, and Identify Your Job sessions, which were very helpful towards my development.

“I usually struggle to complete job applications; however, Jamie was able to sit with me to provide support and guidance whilst going through each job application. I then attended a retail sector session with skills trainer Derek, which gave me all the knowledge that I needed to assess which sector was best for me. Following this session, I managed to secure some interviews with various companies. This really built up my confidence and experience!

“Throughout my time on the Restart Scheme, I’ve attended two job fairs at the office, which has given me the chance to network with various employers and hand out my new and updated CV.

“An application I had been waiting on, from Jamie’s recommendation had finally come back to me with a job offer for a Postman and Mail Sorter role! As this was my first job for a while, I felt nervous, however, Jamie reassured me and continued to support me even whilst in work which I was pleased about.”
