A ‘can-do’ approach - Andrew's story

When Andrew joined the Restart Scheme, he hadn’t worked since a volunteering role he had in 2020. He had been struggling with applying for work, and wanted our support to gain paid employment. Andrew’s Employment Adviser, Andrea, tells us about his journey:

Andrea told us: “When Andrew joined the Restart Scheme, he was very quiet and shy, with a sense of uncertainty on the support that the Restart Scheme could offer. Over the duration of his first few appointments, he became more aware of what areas we could help him with, and he fully engaged with us on every opportunity that arose. Andrew took part in several of our in-house courses which triggered a boost in his confidence, working mindset and transferrable skills.

“Together, we searched for jobs over four different sectors, as Andrew wanted to gain as much experience as possible, and approach his new career with an open, ‘can do’ attitude. We worked together to create a ‘gold standard’ CV and I was able to support him in preparation for job interviews, by practicing with mock questions and interview techniques and scenarios.

“Andrew has recently gone back into employment, and now works full time in the retail/warehousing sector. He has been in touch to share his experience and tell us how much he is enjoying his new role. Although Restart Scheme has supported Andrew, he has reached this outcome himself, with pure determination and his open attitude towards finding work. I am really happy for him!

“Best of luck Andrew!”
