A positive impact – Shaun’s story

Shaun found himself out of work and wasn’t getting the response he had expected from his CV and job applications. When he joined the Restart Scheme, he told us of his goals to find paid work and to build his confidence in employment.

He met with Cally, his Employment Adviser, who was able to assess his previous experience and the type of work that he was interested in pursuing.

Upon joining the Restart Scheme, participants can expect to be allocated their own Employment Adviser. Participants will then be assessed on their strengths, needs, job readiness and transferrable skills to create an individual action plan for their journey into sustaining employment.

During Shaun’s time on the Restart Scheme, he completed courses in interview skills, self-confidence, and sessions on how to tailor his CV to specific roles. Together Cally and Shaun created an attractive CV which highlighted his work experience in the cleaning sector and previous voluntary work he had done for his local community.

Shaun was looking forward to putting his new CV to use and received his first invitation to interview with Parkdean Resorts, for a role in cleaning and quality control. Watch Shaun’s video to find out more about his experience of the Restart Scheme.
