A brighter path - Daniel’s story

When Daniel joined the Restart Scheme, he had already seen first hand how we supported his partner back into work and was eager to begin his own journey. However, he faced challenges with job searching and applications, and the experience of being out of work was starting to affect both his mental health and personal life.
The Restart Scheme helps participants rebuild confidence and move back into work through tailored support, one-to-one sessions, and group workshops where they can connect with other like-minded people, develop new skills, and support one another.
During his initial appointment, he met with his Employment Adviser, Harley, who was able to work with Daniel, discuss his personal circumstances and identify his barriers to work. Harley shared: “When I first met Daniel, he explained that he was struggling with his confidence and facing challenges in his personal life, which were affecting his wellbeing.
“I introduced him to our Reed Wellbeing team, who were on hand to offer support, and he engaged positively with the help available. Although progress took time and there were some difficult moments along the way, Daniel remained committed to improving his situation. Through ongoing support and encouragement, he felt able to take further steps to look after his wellbeing independently.
“Alongside this, Daniel completed several of our in-house courses that helped him rebuild his confidence and develop new skills, focusing on interview skills and techniques, tailoring CVs, and job searching, making the idea of returning to work feel more achievable.”

Daniel has made fantastic progress over recent months and is now in a much more positive place. He has recently secured a role within a contact centre - an incredible achievement! Daniel’s journey is a great example of how perseverance and support can lead to meaningful change.
Daniel said: “I don’t believe I would have sought help without the support of Harley and the team, and I would likely still be in the same situation if it weren’t for the help I received through the Restart Scheme. My journey with the Restart Scheme has taught me that it is okay to ask for help.''
Daniel now feels that his life is back on track and that he can look forward to a happier future, including being able to attend more concerts and go on holidays. We wish him all the best in his new job and for the future.
